I’m dredging this up today because my own research (with my smart wife) is saying we’re still not getting this right. We’re (still) killing #creativity by telling kids (and adults) that ‘guessing’ (#brainstorming) is a way to be effectively innovative and creative. We kill creativity when we believe innovation is a random, unpredictable, unplanned process (essentially all we can do is ‘hope’ for success). We kill creativity when we believe it’s all innate (though we’re born with lots of creative abilities to cultivate) and we should just live with what we have. There are probably more ways we’re killing creativity (can you think of some?), but I want to uncover them and kill THEM, for the sake of our children and our innovative future.
