In several previous blogs, I suggested an inquiry based instructional approach focused around five key skill areas: Ask questions, formulate problems and challenges Search for and process information Think deeply and flexibly Draw conclusions, apply learning Communicate effectively These are skills that students must develop if they are to be prepared for lifelong learning, college and career success, and citizenship in this new era. How can teachers support and enhance the teaching and learning of these five skill areas? As I indicated in a previous blog, teaching these skills through a project-based approach is one way. But another way is to use the following seven principles to guide instruction in every classroom and at every level of schooling.
