Except for those directly involved in administering environmentally-oriented activities, consideration of sustainability is unlikely to intersect our professional interests in public administration. The purpose of this short article is to argue that this separation of the concept of sustainability from public administration is no longer appropriate and that the time to enter this concept into our professional dialogue is now.
